Anyone can just go out and purchase a carpet for their home but if you want to get your monies worth and select a carpet that is made of high-quality material that will be able to last quite some time then here are some things to look for.
Bend the carpet sample backwards, if you can see the backing easily then it is a low-density carpet that will crush more easily.
The carpet must have at least a 34 to 40-ounce face weight.
The face weight is the number of ounces of fibre per square yard.
The range is generally from 20 to 80 and the higher the number, the heavier and more resilient the carpet is.
The density of a carpet is determined by the thickness of the fibres and how tightly packed they are.
The thicker and heavier they are, the better the quality.
The Density rating should be of 2,000 or more.
Texture Retention Warranty:
You will want a carpet with at least a 10-year texture retention warranty as this covers how well the fibres return to their original shape after being walked on.
